‘How’d you find this one?’ Effie asked.

‘Pickle was kind of getting it but I think we need to do a lot of homework to fix it in’ Charlie replied, trying to be casual. But she didn’t feel it. She was too busy trying to analyse the situation. ‘How did Bertie do?’

‘He’s ridiculously compliant today’ Effie said with a smile. ‘Should have cut his nuts off weeks ago.’

Charlie smiled, trying not to be weird. She wasn’t sure she was a hundred percent nailing it.

‘So I might see you tomorrow morning, then?’ Effie said, packing up Bertie’s treats.
